World Trade Center Attack: bin Laden
& Taliban Afghanistan
World Trade Center!
Osama bin Laden!
Taliban!
Afghanistan!
These words are now on everyone's lips and in
everyone's mind.
The horror of the World Trade Center attack is matched only by the hatred
Americans rightly feel towards Osama bin Laden.
The Taliban Afghanistan
government is also properly despised for its support of bin Laden.
The mass media has labeled these acts of terrorism "Attack on America," and the cable
channels provide us 24/7 coverage of the World Trade Center attacks, Taliban
Afghanistan, and the U.S. response.
How about an analysis going beyond the mass
media frenzy? A few examples:
Get bin Laden and the Taliban, But Spare the Innocent
Women and Children!
Bin Laden and the Taliban must surely be
punished for their evil deed, the World Trade Center attack! But we
are not evil! Let's do it properly.
Afghanistan's infrastructure does not have
the same role that Germany's did in World War II, and should not be bombed
like Germany's was. See World Trade Center Attack #1.
In eliminating bin Laden and the Taliban, we
must cut through the media rhetoric concerning when it's supposedly
"okay" to kill innocent civilians, women and children in
Afghanistan. See World
Trade Center Attack #2.
Bin Laden is Frankenstein: Let's Be Smart!
Bin Laden in Afghanistan was financed by the
U.S. Central Intelligence Agency for many years. This means we must
now be very careful in our response to bin Laden, to avoid creating a future
bin Laden, a future Taliban and future horrors like the World Trade Center
attack. For an overall progressive analysis, see World Trade
Center Terrorism #1.
The World Trade Center attack need never have
happened:
Taliban Afghanistan and bin Laden need never
have become threats. At the appropriate time, let's seriously study
our foreign policy since World War II, and figure out how to create a truly
safe, just world. See World Trade Center Terrorism #2.
