It's not well-known that Tom DeLay played a crucial role in stopping the Florida recount in 2000, or, that he single-handedly defied the U.S. Senate to force continued immiseration and poverty onto workers in an American overseas territory.
Instead of begrudgingly allowing 12 million undocumented immigrants to remain here with the woe-is-us rationale that it's just too hard to round them all up, our nation must own up to the fact that by our actions, we have given them the right to stay.

I may have missed it, but I don't think you mentioned that the folks running things in Saipan are/were forcing women workers who get pregnant to, GASP, GET ABORTIONS.
That alone shows just what hypocritical a-holes these people are...
Great podcast this week, Jack. One additional point that needs to be made is that Ann Coulter's wacky call for an American iron curtain between Mexico and the U.S. is one of the opening salvos in a coordinated right-wing campaign to retain control of Congress in November by whipping up racial hatred against illegal immigrants and painting Democrats as wanting to open the borders to hordes of illegal immigrants. As with so many other lies perpetrated by the right, their aim is to repeat this one often enough that it will stick like tar and feathers by election time. No doubt, this handiwork is the brainchild of Carl Rove, recently reassigned to devote his full attention to the November mid-term elections. How many times will moderates and the progressive community allow the right continue to employ these tactics, which take a page from Mein Kampf to secure power through racial scapegoating? It is the duty of every responsible American citizen to speak out against these tactics and to help others see them for what they are -- self-serving hate speech.
humphs - what's funny is that when you pick up the WSJ (I have a subscription) and read the op-ed page, you see column after column supporting ideas like amnesty, etc. This stuff isn't written by liberals - it's written by elites and for elites for the most part.
That's what I find so funny when average joe sixpack right-winger is all in a froth about "bleeding-heart liberals", etc. and the immigration issue. They are ONLY in a froth because of what the right-wing noise machine tells them. The thing I find most disturbing about this is that people never stop to think about WHY the corporate media is telling them certain things that obviously gives them an emotional reaction...
From what I can tell, the elites are not interested in blocking illegal immigration any more than the "bleeding-heart liberals" are, but for different reasons - in the elites' case, they are only concerned about their bottom line. And these guys almost always get their way. It works in their favor to set illegals against the middle and lower class here - we can fight amongst ourselves over scraps, they don't have to worry about services being taken away. After all, we are talking about the upper 1% of society, most likely. As an added bonus, they can smear the Democrats with the "blame".
Jack
Clark documents the right's wars on the poor,
civil liberties, the right of workers to organize
at work and obtain a decent working wage and work
conditions, and against other countries who refuse
to accept American domination. Jack provides all
the sources so that you can see for yourself how
the right is out to enrich itself at the expense
of everyone else. Great job, Jack!

awesome
show
Clark
always backs up his statements against
the right wing with fact and data, which
gives him all the more credibility.
As conglomerate media controlled by
politics clouds the mainstream news
media, Jack Clark, along with NPR and
Democracy Now! have become my primary
news source. Awesome podcast!

In-Depth,
Meaty, Hardcore Knowledge
This
podcast is not just entertainment, humor,
chimp-bashing, or gee-whiz recap of
the weeks events. Instead, it hits hard
and in-depth on the world economic situation
and how right-wing policies impact the
poor and less advantaged all over the
world. He examines Americas support
of the World Bank, IMF,multinational
corporations, etc., and connects the
dots. This is a podcast for grown-ups.
He gives good reasons why the right
wing is NOT living up to its precious
Bible, without putting down the Bible.
As a Jesus-loving Christian and moderate
Democrat, I respect this podcast for
its subject matter. The grown-up manner
of the speaker is just icing on the
cake. He IS funny, but hes not trying
to be, he just has a deadpan delivery
but doesnt have to make jokes to make
it interesting. The facts make it interesting
and devastating.

A
Breath of Fresh Air
Jack
Clarks Blast the Right podcast is truly
a breath of fresh air when it comes
to political commentary. Jack is not
like some commentators who simply climb
on their soap box and state their own
opinions as fact. Instead, Jack welcomes
competent challenges to his way of thinking,
and with logical analysis and sound
research, debunks the lies, distortions,
and self-deceptions of the right wing.
I strongly recommend Blast the Right
for people who seek the truth and care
more about the long term health and
well-being of the whole citizenry than
the short term personal gain advocated
by modern conservatives. Listen as Jack
carefully shows how the high-sounding
"God and country" rhetoric
of the right wing is really just a smokescreen
for policies that ultimately lead only
to the increased misery, suffering,
and death of the less fortunate for
the particular benefit of the wealthy
and the well-connected. And, if you
find yourself in agreement, return to
Podcast Alley to place your vote! Thanks!
